I offer both time limited counselling (typically 6 or 12 weeks), and open-ended counselling.
The counselling process includes a commitment to a regular weekly appointment of 50 minutes so that we can think together about your situation. Within this professional counselling relationship, over time, you may gain a new perspective.
My core theoretical approach is psychodynamic, which includes thinking about how past experience might influence current relationships. Research into the effectiveness of counselling suggests that how you experience the relationship with your counsellor is a more important factor than their stated theoretical approach. You can find more information about the differemt types of counselling and psychotherapy on the BACP ‘Find a Therapist’ website.
Finding the right counsellor for you is an important decision. An initial consultation creates time to think about your needs, how counselling with me might work, and your options.
